Day 164: Goodbye, Watermelon
by Cory on October 3, 2018 8:49 PM
It's coming close to when I should tear everything down. Everything is almost ready now, I'm just waiting for all the garden treasures to ripen. I did a lot of garden shit today! I'm lucky I'm in California because I can't believe how long it took these damn tomatoes to get ready.
I harvested the second wave of fruit from the garden gem today. I feel like this is how things are supposed to go where the fruit is slightly larger, more numerous, and ripening at the same time. There's a lot more catfacing happening on these tomatoes, I'm not sure why.
I also cut open the watermelon today. I was surprised to find some moderately colored flesh inside!
It was juicy and had a nice, fragrant watermelon smell. I didn't think it was ready in any way at all, but since this looked so nice I tried a few bites.
It was nicely sweet! And the texture was pretty good too.
After trying it and being satisfied, I went back outside to the bridge and returned my melon back to the earth from whence it came. It shall rest there for eternity under the bridge.
This brings me tears of joy. :(
