Finishing off the Selection Cursor

by Cory on January 23, 2016 9:52 PM

I've spent most of today tweaking and trying to get the cursor selection behavior working. Since my last post, I expanded the code to not only be able to select a single tile, but to allow the user to click and drag to select a range of tiles. It's not completely done yet since I have to implement the part where you can actually edit and interact with the selected map tiles. But it's a nice start, I think.

Selecting tiles in my soon-to-be map editor...

The white thing with the yellowish outline is the cursor.I need to work out how to figure out to add tiles to the map when I select a portion of the map that doesn't already have tiles. Also, if you end up looking at the code, it's a mess where I just dumped everything into the click() function call just to get it working. I'll refactor it later when I do some more reading and figure out what the hell I'm doing.

This Thought is part of Game Programming

Game programming general topic. I eventually hope to split this into separate ideas exclusively about specific games that I make.
